kelli put out a challenge today to actually do something on december 1 for world AIDS day. i'd like to join in with her. any other takers? any ideas? she also pointed me toward stop global aids, which i'm stealing for my link of the day. seriously, though, how should those of us in columbus commemorate this wednesday?

we got it! we're in a verbal contract, and will fax the papers tomorrow. (it's 10:40pm now.) whew! now we can start thinking about truly important things again...

bedroom

ok. i'm trying really hard not to be obsessive about a silly house, but i'm so nervous right now that i had to post a picture of the master bedroom. i promise this will stop soon!

in other news, last night was our little "stitching" group, which is really just a euphemism for "sit around with cool girls and talk and eat a lot of cookies at sharon's house..." i've been struggling lately with realizing what i bad friend i can be at times, and with how far away my closest friends are. but last night (and this whole weekend, actually) was pretty pivotal in reminding me that the community here is good, and these people are my friends, too...

obsession?

living room

here's a glance into the living room of the house that we made an offer for, received a counter-offer this afternoon, and just re-countered. hooplah! their counter offer was actually really reasonable, so if they counter our recounter, there doesn't seem to be any reason not to take it.

yes, the fireplace makes fire. (gas fire, anyway)

i'm having far too much fun with this picture-blogging thing...

so. we just got back from making an offer on the house pictured below. yes, it probably seems fast, since we just started looking, but i can't tell you how much peace we both have about making an offer. now i'm just trying to keep myself from making painting and party plans before we actually know if it's going to be ours. oh, my brother is going to be in philly with us at christmas after all. happy, happy day!

brydenhouse

this is the house we found and fell in love with today. it felt like it was already ours when we were exploring it. of course, i can also be a little idealistic. but it does have just enough room for lots of guests and creative space, and a yard that's big enough for blaze and a garden. and it's on bryden road, which is pretty much the heart of old towne east revitalization. and, the price is pretty reasonable...if it does become ours, anyone want to move in with us?

the mayor of columbus is coming to our office tomorrow, along with "over 100 other dignataries"...the waiting room is overflowing with new crazy patterned furniture that makes me dizzy every time i walk through it. such is the life of working for a nonprofit that wants to impress the important people... last night we discovered a new, open wireless signal in our apartment. hopefully it will last, and i'll be able to write regularly again... if you want to see a truly beautiful story, check out in america, which is perhaps the best movie i've seen in months. if you have seen it, tell me what you think... oh, we're looking for a house to buy. yikes - does that mean we're adults now? i must work now.

i love sunday mornings like this. i'm listening to this american life, drinking coffee in the sunshine, surrounded by two dogs napping on the couches. daniel is still asleep upstairs - we're dogsitting for the bells this morning, and it's been so lovely to have more than two rooms in which to play. last night phil, sarah and fez came over after we went to see sharon's latest gallery show piece. i've been trying to crochet a pair of legwarmers. the first one isn't really looking like the picture yet. and they're so pretty in the picture! maybe i should stick to hats and scarves...but i really love the idea of being able to whip up other things... sarah mentioned last week that marriage is like looking into a mirror all the time - seeing the very best and very worst of yourself. isn't that the truth! how is that we can be the most self-centered with those we love the most?? i'm going to get back to the legwarmers now...
