random notes for friday ahem. i have added two lovely women to the blog roll on the left. both amy and bekah are smart and funny and insightful writers. i would recommend reading amy's back posts, too. bekah is a new friend-also a social worker-in columbus, and amy rose is an old friend who makes me very happy. she actually came to india and spent my last month there with me. now she lives in new york and is going to change the world... also, my brother is writing again, and he has some good things to say. the red sox won the series! did you know that, according to emily post, you have three months after a wedding to complete the thank you notes? not to fear - we will be meeting that deadline with thoughtful, lovely notes for you! the landing place is throwing a "haunted birthday party" for me tomorrow night. if you wanna come, let me know. (hint to muncie readers!) my computer at work almost made me cry yesterday, as it's not printing the very important document that i HAVE TYPED THREE TIMES! time to get out the ol' pen, i suppose... what are you thinking about this happy friday? talk to us!

You're in touch with the world, and you have a very
strong opinion on things like politics and war.
Even if you do end up changing your image in
the future, most of us will still like you.

i have a meeting in ten minutes, but i want to stay in the habit of updating when i have a chance. it's rainy and cold today - i got soaked when i took blaze out this morning. but i love rainy days. this one, coupled with amy chapman's czech goulah recipe inspired me to look up a vegetarian pot pie recipe to try tonight. yum. i think cooking is becoming my primary creative outlet. of course, daniel has decided that we're taking up painting. so far, i've started on a decent oil pastel drawing inspired by india. india has been on my mind a lot this week. time for my meeting.

well, we've found a picnic table one building over that has a pretty good wireless connection. as long as the weather stays so enticing, it should be easier for me to write regularly... this morning i finished one of those books that makes you wish it was twice as long so that you can keep reading. "donorboy" by brendan halpin is worth the short time it takes to read it. it's the story of a 14 year old girl and her father, who takes custody of her after her parents (whom he had donated sperm to years earlier) die in a freak accident. it's written in the form of e-mails, instant messages and letters, which i usually hate, but which works beautifully in this story. if you like nick hornby, you should like this one. even if you're never heard of nick hornby, you should try it. another promo - my friend kevin has been in nashville for the past three years working on this project - www.thortonmusic.com. good stuff. in fact, i'm listening to samples from his site this very minute. while i'm on the subject of music, my lovely and talented husband is rehearsing right now for his live show tomorrow night at the new and improved hi-5 in columbus. he and a few also-talented friends are the opening set at 10pm. i'll need someone to hang out with, so be there! if you're looking for something to do tonight, bring $20 over to 64 king for the sudan poker benefit. we'll be playing texas hold 'em for the refugees in sudan, via the work of the mennonite central committee. if you want to come and have questions, you can call myself or daniel. ok. i hope i've sufficietnly given you enough things to do to occupy yourself for the weekend. over and out.

so. i'm back, for those of you who are still listening...of course, i know most of my family uses my blog to get to daniel's, so at least a few people are checking in now and again... september was a bit out of control. it seems we had to go out of town every weekend, and had things to do most evenings. so we've officially made october our slow down and hang out month - few obligations, no crazy travel. it's nice to have time to cook dinner. and to write. my biggest blogging problem, however, is the fact that we don't have internet at home, and i have no time to write at work anymore. but right now i'm at our local library, which has great, fast wireless access. hooplah! i like being married. some days i like it more than i expected to. others, i realize that my life will never be just my very own again. that can be tough for an independent girl like me. but i'm mostly enjoying getting used to it. daniel is good at being kind and creative and fun - and when we fight, we usually end up laughing at ourselves eventually. a lot of you have probably seen references on his blog to our moving to the east coast. we are considering that, and we're also considering staying here for awhile. the big thing is my going back to school. we both have good jobs here, and it would be kind of fun to have a house for a few years, save some money, and dig in even more deeply to our community here. i really can't imagine leaving them anytime soon. of course, i also couldn't imagine leaving my cincinnati family, but that has been an easier process than i expected. anyway, there are a lot of places and people calling out to us, but i don't think we're in a hurry to make rushed decisions. growing into marriage is enough for now. ;-) and, to put at ease any worries - we wouldn't move for another year anyway - IF we do. so. i love this crisp fall. i love putting on sweaters and having to roll down the windows in the afternoon when the sun finally heats things up. i love getting to drink things like pumpkin spice lattes. soon the eggnog will be here! can i just say again how great our community is? i really don't understand how i've been so blessed to have a strong community absolutely everywhere i've lived. how does one get so lucky? also - have i ever mentioned that i've wanted to go to turkey ever since i was eight years old? where have all of you wanted to go?? your turn to talk!
